Okay so I made this up from a few different recipes over the years, but the base is actually my honarary grandma's fried chicken.
Recipe:
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken (breast or tenders)
1cups buttermilk
1 cup flour
2 cups crushed pretzels
1 cup parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon cheyenne pepper (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 500 degree to bake the chicken or preheat peanut oil to 375 degrees to fry.
- Mix crushed pretzels, parmesan cheese, paprika, cheyenne pepper, salt and pepper in a shallow dish and set aside.
- Lightly coat the chicken in the flour
- Dip the chicken into the buttermilk till fully submerged
- Dip the chicken into the pretzel mixture and shake off excess
- Bake the chicken for about 12-15 minutes until crispy or fry about 5-10 minutes until fully cooked.
- Enjoy with your favorite biscuit , potatoes, or waffles and syrup for a true southern treat.
